The ePC Group Launch
We hung out with cocktails at the launch on July 8th with Pete Abell in the new offices in Boston of The ePC Group. Peter Abell and John Greaves, acknowledged leaders in the field of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), today announced the formation of the ePC Group, Ltd. The ePC Group’s main business is RFID consulting and implementation at the physical level. The company, with main offices here and subsidiary locations in Chicago, Fort Worth and London, will also enter into joint ventures with specific vertical application providers requiring RFID expertise.

“We are starting the ePC Group to promote the vision that RFID will deliver substantial benefits to all partners in the value chain. Our real-world insight into the challenges facing companies dedicating resources to RFID technology, gained during years of hands-on research in the field, will give our clients an advantage over their competitors,” said Abell and Greaves.

In addition to the two founders, the ePC Group has assembled a global staff of experienced RF engineers and supply chain experts who will form the backbone of the company and deliver its services to the industry. Additional consultants, staff managers and support professionals will be engaged in coming months.

About John Greaves
Known as “Mr. RFID”, he was most recently Director of the Supply Chain Information Systems effort at CHEP, where he implemented an asset-tracking program using the standards he developed as Director of Technology Research and Global Leader of the EAN.UCC-GTAG Project Team.

Greaves chaired the ADC 1 USA committee on standardization of RFID since its founding in 1997 until term limits prevented re-election. Among his other significant credentials are:

  • E.T.S.I. - Standards of spectrum efficiency, frequency management and allocation and Short Range Devices (SRDs) in RFID Technology.
  • US Delegate to ISO/IEC SC31 on Automatic Identification and Data Capture.
  • Member of the Global Commerce Initiative (GCI) Intelligent Tagging Work Group
  • Chair of the Global Standards Management Process Asset Business Modeling Group of EAN.UCC
