The last few years have brought big changes to the info tech world. With thousands of new start-ups, extreme outsourcing, free software and web services—these changing trends impact how the business-to-business world communicates.

EDI, Supply Chain platforms, and Managed File Transfer (MFT), approaches have all been impacted by these business changes. New companies are entering the MFT world and established EDI and exchange providers are creating and offering ad hoc MFT, as well.

To explain these trends, I am pleased to introduce to our readers Jonathan Lampe, founder of File Transfer Consulting.

Jonathan discusses important topics in the B2B integration universe. Spending most of his time helping clients deal with B2B integration issues, he is in a prime position to see the challenges and solutions in an objective way.

One of the takeaways I got from talking to Jonathan is about issues in governance—in the enterprise, between trading partners, and in the cloud. The enterprise knows it has issues, but many of these issues such as file/document security, auditability of what employees are sharing between themselves as well as with trading partners, and general security for content managed in the cloud remain only partially solved. Big topics!

To introduce these topics I am linking you to Jonathan’s recently published Top Three Trends of Managed File Transfer.1 He has great insights about this market and how solution providers may or may not be supporting market needs. We look forward to hearing more from Jonathan.
